"WAS ZÄHLT!" INITIATIVE

In spring 2020, the Claussen-Simon Foundation launched the "Was zählt!" initiative with a total of 500,000 euros to support artists, schools and universities in Hamburg in meeting the current challenges posed by the Corona crisis: For former stART.up fellows, the "Was zählt!" fund for artists and cultural workers amounting to 200,000 euros was set up. We also launched the "Was zählt!" fund for teaching and learning in Hamburg and endowed it with 300,000 euros to support Hamburg's universities, schools and - thanks to an additional contribution of 100,000 euros from the Hans Weisser Foundation - non-school educational institutions with the teaching and learning challenges created by the Corona crisis. In addition, the Claussen-Simon Foundation contributed 50,000 euros to the " Kunst kennt keinen Shutdown" relief fund initiated by the Hamburg Cultural Foundation.

Under the three categories School & Education, University & Academia and Arts & Culture, we offer scholarship programmes and project funding to pupils, students, doctoral candidates and emerging academics, along with artists and musicians.

We facilitate inter-disciplinary learning, provide a supportive environment and create opportunities for our scholars and alumni to be part of a lively community.
